A classic, no-bake dessert featuring a buttery graham cracker crust, a sweet and creamy cheese layer, and a vibrant cherry topping. Simple, delicious, and always a crowd-pleaser.

Prep Time: 20 minutes
Chill Time: 6 hours (or overnight)

For the Crust:

  • 2 cups graham cracker crumbs

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted

For the Cream Cheese Layer:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened

  • 8 oz whipped topping (e.g., Cool Whip), optional

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Crust
In a medium bowl, mix the graham cracker crumbs and melted butter until the mixture resembles wet sand. Press it firmly and evenly into the bottom of an 8×8 or 9×9 inch baking dish.
For a firmer crust, you can bake it at 400°F (200°C) for 5 minutes. If you do, let it cool completely before proceeding.

  2. Make the Cream Cheese Layer
In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar and 1 tablespoon of milk, and beat until well combined. If the mixture is too thick, add the remaining milk, one teaspoon at a time, until it reaches a smooth, spreadable consistency.

  3. Assemble the Layers
Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the cooled crust. Then, gently spoon the cherry pie filling over the cream cheese layer and spread it into an even layer.

  4. Add the Final Touch (Optional)
If using, carefully spread the whipped topping over the cherry layer for an extra creamy finish.
Note: My grandma always preferred it without, and it’s just as delightful!

  5. Chill and Set
Cover the dessert and refrigerate for at least 6 hours, or preferably overnight. This allows the layers to set perfectly. Slice into squares and serve cold.

Enjoy a slice of sweet nostalgia!
